But, uh, yeah… That would be a tad bit dangerous. Anywho, enjoy the above video. Recently, our colleagues over at Motor Trend had a little powwow with someone in the know about the upcoming Infiniti G sedan.
First off, the next-gen Infiniti G is through its design phase and production is ready to begin. The leaky informant also let it be known that the new Infiniti G sedan will be in showrooms by the end of the summer in and the coupe will come later. According to the informer, the new G will look nothing like the current model.
From the front end, in particular the headlights, it will have the appearance of the Etherea concept car that Infiniti teased us with at the Geneva Auto Show. The G will again come in a sedan or coupe, so no surprises there. However there are talks of a crossover model. The 2. So there we have it.
We just have to wait and see if these rumors are true. How odd would it be for rally fans to see a Nissan, let alone an Infiniti, getting its tires dirty in the world of rallying? Turns out, though, the G37 S Coupe will not be doing any rally racing of its own. Instead, it has been tapped as the official rally-spec safety car of the SRC. When it comes to getting a little "bling-bling," some people go way out of their way to make their cars look extreme.
Take this Infiniti G37 Convertible, for example. This golden G37 Convertible was presented in a jewelry store in the city of Nanjing in Jiangsu Province. The owners are literally putting a big sparkling sign on their car that says, "Steal me! Infiniti found the perfect way to promote their latestIPL G Coupe: put it to race again a helicopter. So, the recipe is like this: take one IPL G Coupe, put former IndyCar driver Scott Goodyear behind the wheel, find a closed race track and a helicopter and "hit the road!
We will not ruin the surprise and reveal who won the race, but we will tell you this: Scott Goodyear was very impressed about the car. And after all why not? There have been talks that the G37, specifically the coupe version, will be designed using the Infiniti Essence concept that was debuted by the company at the Geneva Motor Show a year ago.

While Lexus had years to realize their SC mistake, Infiniti had nothing.
Starting from scratch might be saying a tad much, as the G37 was built with a hardtop in mind. With all these different factors in mind, we took out the new Infiniti G37 Convertible, with the sport package, out for a week of driving around town.
Did the newest Japanese hardtop live up to big veteran Lexus? The first of them, called the G37 Performance, has already been caught total undisguised. Compared to a standard G37 model, the Performance version gets a redesigned front bumper with a new spoiler element, larger air intake with honeycomb black mesh, and an upper half that better joins the styling lines extending past the sides of the hood.
The G37 will also feature a new rear bumper, a replacement decklid spoiler, and optional tailpipes and wheels. The only thing we do know is that the two new models have been described as "a new engine option, not an all-new model.
